TMB users can now connect free of charge to the phone charging stations installed in Sagrada Familia, Paseo de Gracia, Universidad and Paralel
Four stations of metro line 2 have incorporated high-powered phone charging stations so that users of the Barcelona metro can charge their devices for free. This is a pilot test successfully promoted by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB) and Yupcharge, it is also expected to be applied in train cars and to be extended to the whole of the metro network of Barcelona.
Phone charging stations equipped with four USB ports with fast charging technology and they’re located on the walls of the two platforms of busy and important stations such as: Sagrada Familia, Paseo de Gracia, Paralel and also Universidad. They are also easily traceable thanks to informational signage of the phone charging service.
Yupcharge has developed these equipments especially for Metro de Barcelona and with them it is expected to cover the needs of charging and connection of the urban public transport users. An added value and complementary benefit that will benefit 90% of users, the proportion who claims to possess a smartphone.
Also the phone charging stations are perceptible at first sight thanks to the information signaling of the service of charge for mobile phones. It is a total of five equipments with 58W of power and output voltage of 5 to 12 volts. The USB ports are located at the bottom of the phone charging station and are protected by an IP65 cover which increases protection against the ingress of dust, liquids and other substances.
It should be noted that this powerful project has the purpose to connect all the passengers so their waiting become more bearable. In addition to that advantage, the project would carry many more; among them we will mention these:
